Moonshot AI says it reported fake fundraising schemes using its name

Moonshot AI, the company behind Kimi, said on Aug. 14 that it has reported suspected illegal fundraising activity to police after parties in the market allegedly used the company’s name to solicit funds. In a formal statement, the company said it will pursue accountability over the matter. The company also denied the existence of several claimed fundraising arrangements circulating in the market. Moonshot AI said there is no such thing as a “friends fund” or any “special channel,” and that there are no so-called “old share quotas” or “reserved allocations.” It also said there are no “official agents” or “authorized intermediaries” acting on its behalf. Moonshot AI urged market participants to stay alert to related false information and suspicious transactions. The statement was published as a warning against impersonation and unauthorized fundraising conducted in the company’s name.
